Wait, what is an abortion anyway? An abortion is a precedure done to end the pregnancy of an unborn fetus before the time of birth occurs.
In my blog, I will put together an unbiased factual grouping of arguments from each the Pro-Life activist and the Pro-choice activist. This is not an easy topic for everyone to discuss without emotional attachment I will do my best to introduce ideas that might be able to open the minds of each argumentative parties so to help us agree to disagree on a topic such as this. I want people to realize that no one person is ever right or wrong, never better than or worse off. The first step to living peacefully amongst our enemies is to better understand where they are coming from and why they might find reason to disagree with another's point of view.
I also want to help educate the reader who might be thinking of abortion herself, my objective is not to detour her from aborting her baby, but instead to help her understand a little better about what an abortion might do to her both physically and mentally. The best way to prevent abortions is to make sure the pregnancies do not happen in the first place, with possible contraceptive techniques, and the idea of abstinence.
First off is to discuss the different types of abortion:
Medical Abortion: For a medical abortion, a combination of drugs is taken to end a pregnancy. A medical abortion does not require surgery and can be performed up to 49 days after the first day of the last menstrual period. Two combinations of medications are available for medical abortions: Methotrexate and misoprostol—Methotrexate terminates a pregnancy by inhibiting the production of folic acid in the pregnant woman's body. Folic acid is necessary for making the cells that form the brain, spine, organs, skin, and bones of the developing fetus. Misoprostol is then used. This drug causes the uterus to contract and expel its contents. Mifepristone (formerly known as RU486) and a misoprostol—Mifepristone terminates a pregnancy by blocking the action of progesterone in the pregnant woman's body. Progesterone helps maintain the uterine lining, which is necessary for a pregnancy to be sustained. Misoprostol is then used and works as noted above.
Surgical Abortion: Surgical abortions remove the contents of the uterus. They are performed in a few ways, with the procedure depending on the length of the pregnancy:
Physical Side Effects of Abortion:
1. Infection is caused due to an undiagnosed STD, retained pregnancy components. The usual symptom of an infection involves dizziness, headaches or muscle aches. Redness, swelling or pain in genital area is also another signs of the infection.
2. An unusual bleeding may occur due to surgical procedure in case the blood vessels or uterine muscles do not compress properly. There are chances of excessive bleeding or passing clots bigger than a golf ball, bleeding heavily for 12 hours in a row.
3. If there is serious pain on the abdomen after the medication and rest, there are chances that the body may not be healing properly and needs medical attention.
4. In case the cervix is cut by mistake stitches may be needed to stop the bleeding and during this procedure if the cervix gets injured it may avoid successful pregnancy in the future. This is an extremely rare side effect and can be solved with help of a surgery.
5. The other most common side effects of a surgical abortion and cause no harm are like irregular bleeding or spotting during the first 3 weeks, emotional reactions for 2-3 weeks and cramping for the first 2 weeks. Most of the surgical abortions involve maximum recovery time of around 3 weeks and sometimes more serious side effects also occur which requires follow-up care.
Mental Side Effects of Abortion: I thought I'd find some actual accounts of some women who have undergone the abortion process, I found a story by a Hannah Rose who talks about her difficult decision to abort her baby.
"Common sense tells us that some post-abortion psychological trauma is so likely as to be almost inevitable" In 1989, the journal Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics followed 83 post-abortion patients, and found 30 suffering "anniversary reactions", often psychosomatic symptoms, on the date either of the abortion or when the baby should have been born. In 1992, Zolese and Blacker (British Journal of Psychiatry) summarized previous research to discover a "marked, severe or persistent psychiatric illness" in an average of 10 per cent of post-abortive women.
In many cases of abortion, the woman who is getting the abortion is not initially for aborting the baby, many of the women are driven to abort their babies by the fathers of the baby, or by the parents of the woman. Unfortunately the voice of the one who actually has to undertake the emotional toll of having to rid a life from her whom is not heard over the craziness of her family members.
"I DON'T WANT THE ABORTION...BUT THEY ARE ALL PRESSING ME!"
I say to all the women out there who are thinking about aborting their baby to educate yourself fully on the topic before you make a decision. PLEASE
Ways to prevent Pregnancy so that Abortion doesn't have become an option!:
There are many different forms of contraception that aid in the process of safe sex without the risk of getting pregnant. There is physical apparatuses such as condemns which prevent the contact of man sperm with the woman's egg. Also birth control pills, and or the "morning after pill"which can be used to terminate a pregnancy soon after unprotected sex.
PRO-LIFE: This means that a person advocates full legal protection of embryos and fetuses (especially opposing the legalization of induced abortions.

Many people who are pro-life choose to be because of Moral beliefs or values that the person believes strongly in. Some people just don't like the idea that people can control who gets to live and or die, they believe that we do not have the right to decide this. Only God, the all knowing creator gets to decide who lives and who dies.
"No woman should be forced to bear a child simply because she is poor"4
Your feelings are valid; this is a big decision. There are at least three options available to you. Each option will have immediate and long-term impacts on your life. Read more information about abortion and your other options.

Unfortionately in the time of making the decision to have an abortion, the woman finds herself going through way to much stress. I am NOT pro choice although I feel that in certain cases, abortion is not only warranted but sometimes necessary. This is one of those cases. Also if the baby doesn't have a chance of survival.

I read a forum about a case where a young 13 year old child was raped by her own Uncle at a family event. She talks about how emotionaly tramitizing it was for her. She talks about why she got the abortion and that she now has met her husband who she had a baby boy with. Stories like this are why it just makes sense for abortion to be an option for the unfortionate girl who finds herself filled witht the semen of a crazed man who deserves to have his genitals cut off, in my opinion.
The famous saying, "Everything happens for a reason" is very powerful in the fact that it could be used by anyone, religious or not.
An interview in time magazine quotes Justin Beiber, a young pop artist of today who speaks without truly understanding the significance of his word choice. He believes that abortion is wrong in every circumstance, even in the case of rape. Justin Beiber represents the uneducated who wants to belive that every life was meant to be lived similar to his. The fact of the matter is, that some life on earth was meant to die, and dwindle. The famous story of Saddartha who dedicated his life the poverty and suffering is a perfect example of this. If everything happens for a reason, then maybe the baby who was aborted was just a part of the plan that might have been the reason to help turn the life around of a potential mother who realized the significance of her actions which gave her the reason or drive to make a difference of the lives of others on earth. Maybe that aborted baby made a difference in the world without having to even be born. The point is, that their is no surefire way to live life here on earth, we need to live our life judging ourselves instead of worrying about the actions of others.
Abortion initially is an argument between people living with a set of morals they strongly believe in, against people who are more concerned about the physical and civil rights of humanity instead of a moral code of conduct.
"We are forgetting why we are fighting about abortion in the first place!" "People who haven't found themselves in the situation should not have any say to whether abortion is right or wrong."
This first source is
mainly just an overview of the Roman Catholic teachings on abortion. They
writer started with three bullet points about various church beliefs, implying that the Catholic church
has narrowed it down to three possibilities considering when a fetus becomes a
living child, some said: At a specific time into pregnancy (40 days, 80 days,
116 days), or Quickening (when the woman first feels the fetus move), or At
conception. This source give a timeline of the teachings from the past
about abortion, and what some significant popes clergymen have said about the topic of abortion. We get a
timeline that starts from 100 CE to as current as “Canon law, which was revised
in 1917 and 1983 to refer simply to "the fetus." The church penalty for abortions at any stage
of pregnancy was, and remains, excommunication”.
This source also offers a few other sources that might offer a wider range of
unbiased opinion, one source titled
Abortion: all aspects; all points of view, talks about the views of both the
Prolife activist and Prochoice activist.
From reading more and more about the topic of
abortion, it seems like people are beginning to fight and argue more so over
our rights as citizens and what is taking away from our rights as free
citizens. This article was helpful, but was in no way a significant means of
argument when considering a stance unless you yourself believe in the same
morals as Catholics do. Many people do not have any religious affiliation now
days, so arguments that has no factual backing, leaves the decision and outcome
up to God who created the two human beings who came together to help bring
another child to this earth. From the Catholic standpoint it is selfish of
oneself to abort a baby that was possibly meant to be born, if God truly felt
that you would not be fit for having a baby, he would figure out a plan to take
care of the life of each the mother and the baby. What if a girl goes into the
adoption clinic on day to have an adoption, little did she know that God was
not planning on letting her have a baby in the first place, what if the next
day the fetus was going to die on its own. Now that she aborted the baby one
day too early she has to live for the rest of her life with the regret of
aborting a baby that was never meant to be. Abortion is devilish, and selfish,
in the eyes of a morally anguished Catholic. But in the eyes of a pagan and
sinner who knows nothing about morality wouldn’t think twice about the guilt
that might come from aborting a baby.
Abortion is a right that women of the United States have and protects them from punishment and condemnation for decideing to abort their unborn child.
Abortion is a right that women of the United States have and protects them from punishment and condemnation for decideing to abort their unborn child.
Abortion, also called Induced Abortion is a premature stoppage of a
pregnancy in a woman’s uterus before natural birth occurs. Sandra Alters argues the point that a baby in the fetus is a human just
the same as it would be after it is born. She argues that humans do not have
the right to choose the fate of another human being no matter the
circumstances.
Abortion
is mentioned in the ancient Code of Assyria (in Mesopotamia) of the twelfth
century BC. Provision fifty-three explicitly ordered that any woman who had an
abortion should be impaled on stakes without the dignity of burial. If the
woman did not survive the abortion, her body was to be similarly impaled, again
without burial. Likewise, ancient Jewish law strictly forbade abortion as a
method of avoiding childbirth, although it allowed the sacrifice of the fetus
to save the life of the mother.
The Greek philosophers Plato (c. 428–347 BC) and
Aristotle (384–322 BC) both approved of abortion as a means of population
control. They also advocated exposure in the belief that it would ensure the
best possible offspring. Plato wrote in The Republic that any woman older than
forty years (an age when the rate of birth
Catholic position on abortion sees it as taking a
life form the moment of conception
She
talks about a lot of the Religious beliefs about Abortion; She notices that it
seems that Religious views are against the ideas of Abortion. Scientist like
Plato, seem to have a different grasp on the idea behind life and all that
exist. Religious views view every life as sacred and important to the identity
of the world, from a religious standpoint we are killing of the babies who
might potentially go on to change the world for the better.
Plato
and Aristotle come from a scientific background that says we have evolved into
the people we are today because of evolution and the idea that the strongest
survive, the idea that killing of a baby because it might affect the strengths
or life of another member in the family was more than common in eyes of the
scientist.
For the second article I chose, I
tried to focus on finding a point of view that is on the other side of the
argument, which argues for prochoice and argued reasons of why a woman would
have no other choice but to abort their baby. The paper goes into the
understanding of the reproductive rights that people have as citizens. The
paper brings up issues of racism and ways that white supremacy may force their
beliefs onto other cultures who believe that a woman has the right to do what
she wants with her body. Kinship between a mother and child seems to be less
significant in the eyes of some people who might choose prochoice over prolife.
The
paper talks about how each side of the argument of the Pro-choice, pro-life
paradigm are both sexist and racist, giving neither side a strong argument to
fall on when choosing to be pro life or prochoice. In the end, it comes down to
a battle of morality between people and justice code that everyday individuals
live with.
The
question, does every person in the world have Morals,? I would say yes, but the
morals that are instilled in us as we grow up are always different. Moral code
is no specific guideline or code, That is why humans love to argue on the topic
and voice beliefs and opinions that can neither be proven wrong or right.
Humans will never be able to prove whether one life is more important than
another’s, or that a single life is worth 500 lives.
The
author tells the women of color who argue pro choice because of racism to find
a knew argument. We need to teach justice and .
“Instead, women of color activists should develop alternative
paradigms for articulating reproductive justice that make critiques of
capitalism and criminalization central to the analysis rather than simply
expand either pro-choice or pro-life frameworks”
A funny story about people saving the life of a cat because they felt to bad about killing it makes a person think about why humans can kill off their own offspring easier and with less emotional attachtment than some can an animal.

1.) Does the essay make a clear argument? Yes_X__ No____
ReplyDelete2.) Find on sentence that you think best describes the thesis of the blog essay.
"As a raised Catholic Christian, I do not support abortion or the unjustifiable excuses that plead probable cause of the murder of a helpless and Innocent life."
3.) Does the article clearly identify a problem so that the reader understands who was involved, what happened, where it happened, when and why?
Yes, it is a very prevalent issue in society today and is easily understandable for people of all ages
4.) Does the article provide plenty of level-1 abstractions to support their argument?
Yes, getting big names like Bieber is a good support, but you should add additional sources from people who are involved with the issue as their profession such as doctors.
5.) Are there any images or video in the essay? If so, are the significances of all videos and images clearly explained in the essay?
Yes, but you should incorporate more images rather than videos to provide the reader with helpful graphics for understanding
6.) Are their any claims in the essay that you are skeptical of?
I think that the example of the ancient Code of Assyria is interesting, but somewhat irrelevant with your argument. Try to find more contemporary examples to support your claim.
7.) Are the aspects of the essay that you found to be very interesting or effective?
I like how you used the Greek philosophers, Plato and Aristotle, to back up your claims as they are both one of the most important figures in the history of humanity.
